Montco's First Omicron Case Confirmed
The first case of the omicron COVID-19 variant in Montgomery County has been confirmed.

NORRISTOWN, PA — The first case of the omicron COVID-19 variant in Montgomery County has been confirmed, county officials said. The variant, which is potentially more contagious, has now been confirmed in six individuals statewide in Pennsylvania.
The individual is in their 20s and lives in Whitpain Township, the Montgomery County Office of Public Health said.
“Individuals who are not fully vaccinated remain at higher risk for contracting COVID-19, and for severe illness or death resulting from a COVID infection, than individuals who are vaccinated,” Montgomery County Commissioner Val Arkoosh said in a statement. “The best way to protect you and your family from the Omicron variant is to get vaccinated and get a booster dose if you are eligible.”
