More Than 8,000 Have Received COVID Vaccine Doses In Montco

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, PA — The total number of partial COVID-19 vaccines administered in Montgomery County has risen to more than 8,000, according to the latest update from the Department of Health's vaccine dashboard.

The county's 8,231 vaccinations marks an increase of about 3,000 over last week's figure. Montgomery County remains one of the state's leaders in most vaccines received, trailing only Lehigh and Allegheny counties.

Thus far, the shipments of vaccine arriving in Montgomery County have been designated for individuals in the first priority group, including healthcare workers and nursing home residents.

Meanwhile, hundreds of thousands of residents are patiently waiting. The next stage is the "1B" priority group, which includes residents 75 years and older.

"It is hard to predict when this will be because we have no certainty about how much vaccine we are receiving each week," Montgomery County Commissioner Val Arkoosh shared.

The county will publicly announce their registration process when they begin open vaccinations to that 1B group.

Montgomery County plans to open up their first vaccination clinic at Montgomery County Community College in Blue Bell on Wednesday. At this time, it is still only for healthcare workers. If you think you might qualify, you can find out more information here.

Statewide, 144,863 doses have been administered as of Tuesday afternoon. All doses administered thus far are considered "partial," as a second dose is required to complete the vaccination.
