Norristown's Revitalization: New Developments To Be Highlighted

Federal and state officials will be in town later this month to promote the development projects that are changing the face of Norristown.

NORRISTOWN, PA — Officials will highlight the progress of several development projects in Norristown during a special event later this month, as the ongoing revitalization of the municipality continues.

A forum featuring local, county, state, and federal officials will be held at the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit on Oct. 14 at 6:30 p.m. Municipal Council President Derrick Perry said that highlighting the developments will help encourage investments in the area.

“We are excited by what we have been able to accomplish to open more opportunities for development in Norristown,” Municipal Council President Derrick Perry said in a statement. “Our community will benefit by those who want to invest in new opportunities for Norristown, and homeowners now have better incentive to do large-scale improvements to their homes."

Norristown has seen numerous projects either get off the ground or be completed within the past several months. Groundbreaking on the Montgomery County Justice Center campus took place this summer. The $90 million Lafayette Street extension, which represents the largest locally-led transportation project ever in Pennsylvania, was completed last December. Numerous other apartment complexes, business centers, and entertainment complexes have been proposed or approved in the downtown district in recent months.

"Council will continue to look for ways to encourage further investment in Norristown as the best place to live and work," Perry added.
