Thunderstorms, Heavy Rain, Flooding Possible In Philly Area

More than an inch of rain is possible, alongside localized flooding and thunderstorms. Here's the latest.

SOUTHEASTERN PA — A week of cloudy skies and heavy rain continues in the greater Philadelphia area Thursday, as forecasters predict up to two inches of rain in some parts of the area. Thunderstorms, wind gusts and localized flooding are also possible.

Showers are expected to cross the region throughout the day, starting with lighter rain in the morning. There may be a slight early afternoon lull before thunderstorms hit the area after 2 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Heavier rain is also likely to move in along a cold front after 5 p.m. Another round of scattered showers is expected to come again in the wee hours of Friday morning. There could also be an overnight thunderstorm.

Thursday is predicted to see a high of 57 degrees with 15 mph wind gusts.
