• DEP Invites Comments On Individual Stormwater Permit For PECO Energy Electric Substation, 230 kV Transmission Line Project Crossing Schuylkill River In Montgomery County (blogspot.com) — A major PECO project would relocate transmission lines and build a new electric substation crossing the Schuylkill River through Norristown and nearby municipalities, and state regulators are now taking public comments. Residents can submit feedback on the stormwater permit to DEP's Southeast Regional Office on East Main Street in Norristown by October 26 or request to review the application in person.
   

• Share Food Program launches meals initiative for families to combat child hunger during school holiday breaks (pottsmerc.com subscription) — Families in the Norristown Area School District will soon have access to free meal boxes during winter and spring breaks, thanks to a new School Break Meals Initiative funded by a $150,000 investment from PA Health & Wellness. Share Food Program will distribute about 6,000 boxes with breakfast and lunch items through drive-through events, helping local households manage when school meals aren't available.
   

• Montco Daycare Owner, Twp. Supervisor Rejects Plea Deal In Child Sex Assault Case: Officials (patch.com) — A high-profile child sex assault case based in the Montgomery County Courthouse in Norristown is now headed for a full jury trial after the defendant, a former Skippack Township supervisor and daycare owner, rejected a plea deal. Prosecutors say the charges stem from years of alleged abuse of a minor, and the man remains jailed as court officials work to schedule the trial.
