11 Miles of Route 611 to Be Repaved Starting Next Week

If you travel on Route 611, your ride is about to get a lot smoother.
All 11 miles of Route 611 in Montgomery County is slated to be repaired and resurfaced starting this month, PennDOT announced.
The $7.2 million improvement project, which begins Tuesday, covers the entire stretch of Route 611 in Montgomery County, from the Bucks County line to the Philadelphia city line.

“We are eager to begin construction to repave this heavily traveled highway in Montgomery County that suffered extensive pavement damage over the past two winter seasons,’ said Acting PennDOT District Executive Christine Reilly. “Motorists will soon enjoy a much smoother ride when traveling on Route 611.”
Milling will begin on southbound Route 611 at Edge Hill Road and continue south to Cheltenham Avenue.

Work will then shift over to the northbound lanes and go north to the Bucks County line. Upon reaching the Bucks County line, the operation will move back to the southbound side of the highway and continue south to the Edge Hill Road intersection, PennDOT said.
Paving is expected to start in early June. Crews will work weeknights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., PennDOT said. The resurfacing operation is expected to be completed in late July.
Starting in June, contractors will work weekdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to adjust utility manholes and drainage inlets as well as construct curb ramps along the highway. All work is scheduled to be completed in June 2016, PennDOT said.
