2013 Police Unity Bike Tour Raises $ 1.7 Million

The Florham Park, NJ to Warminster, PA leg of the 300-plus mile 2013 Police Unity Bike Tour was held on Friday, May 10. The participants gathered at the Warminster police headquarters parking lot on Gibson Avenue around noon for lunch and a brief rest before heading to Philadelphia on their way to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC.

Hatboro Federal Savings sponsored Sergeant David Erenius of the Warminster Police Department for the second consecutive year. 270 cyclists participated this year with a 15-member police motorcycle escort and support team. In total, 1700 riders triumphantly completed the tour in Washington, DC, raising more than $1.7 million for the cause.

Officer Patrick P. Montuore of the Florham Park, NJ Police Department organized the first bike tour in May 1997 with just 18 riders making the four-day, fund-raising ride. Over time, the event has grown to encompass eight chapter organizations consisting of nearly 1,600 members nationwide. In addition to officers representing 40 different states, participants have traveled to the event from Australia, Canada, England, India, Israel and Italy.
