DESIGN SPREE AND GACEK DESIGN GROUP ANNOUNCE PARTNERSHIP: Firms Join Forces to Develop Young Design Talent and Announce Designer Challenge

Design Spree, a unique “storehouse” (high-end, warehouse-style furniture store) with two locations in Maywood & Lawrenceville, New Jersey and Gacek Design Group, a leading interior design and architectural consulting firm in Bucks County, Pennsylvania are introducing the “Beyond Gatsby Design Challenge.”  Inspired by their collaboration on the upcoming Bucks County Designer House & Gardens project, the firms will give young designers an opportunity to showcase their talents in a real world environment.

The theme “Beyond Gatsby” was developed by Richard Gacek, owner and principal designer at Gacek Design Group, as the inspiration for the living room he’s designing for the 38th Annual Bucks County Designer House & Gardens in late April.  Incorporating unique and custom tailored pieces from Design Spree into the living room will help create a modern day, livable luxury setting.

“I’m pleased to support new designers with an opportunity that combines present day design sensibilities with references from historic periods,” said Richard Gacek, principal at Gacek Design Group.  “The Beyond Gatsby room will transcend the house’s architectural era and, using unique pieces from Design Spree, will integrate entertaining as you may appreciate it today - a comfortable and quiet look and feel with luxurious undertones.”

“We’re extremely excited to partner with Richard Gacek on the Bucks County Designer House & Gardens and the Beyond Gatsby Design Challenge is a nice way to share the experience with young design talent,” said Jay Wagnon, president of Design Spree. “We are pleased to offer these students the opportunity to work with such a leader in the industry.”

Beginning now through March 31st, designers will submit their credentials and design portfolio online at www.designspree.com/beyondgatsby to be considered for one of three finalist spots.  The finalists will each be given a space within Design Spree of Lawrenceville and three days to design the room to reflect the character of Gatsby – glamorous details, intricate Art Deco style and fashionable accents.  Gacek will be available to advise the designers on their projects and offer support along the way.  Prior to the opening of the Bucks County Designer House & Gardens on April 28th, Gacek will select a winner for the “Beyond Gatsby Design Challenge” to receive a gift of $250 toward their design education provided by Design Spree.
