GIANT helps customers give back to their local communities this holiday season

During this season of giving, GIANT Food Stores and MARTIN’S Food Markets is offering its customers several ways to support worthy causes in their local communities.

“While GIANT/MARTIN’S is a company that is proud to live and give in the communities we serve throughout the year, we are especially proud to ensure those in need have a memorable holiday season,” said Jeff Beaulieu, vice president, sales and merchandising.  “This year we have partnered with such deserving organizations as our local food banks, Children’s Miracle Network and Toys for Tots and encourage our customers to consider supporting one of these causes on a future shopping trip.”

To help fight hunger this holiday season, GIANT/MARTIN’S Hunger Relief Boxes are now available in all stores for purchase. Each $10 box includes a variety of nonperishable canned goods, pasta, oatmeal and other healthy choices to feed a family throughout the course of one day. All boxes purchased are donated directly to regional food banks, local pantries and soup kitchens where GIANT/MARTIN’S operates.

Customers have the opportunity to support Children’s Miracle Network through GIANT/MARTIN’S annual “Candles for Kids” in-store holiday campaign from November 25 – December 8. For a $1 donation at the checkout, customers can purchase a paper candle and write their names on it, which will be displayed in the store. Since 1996, GIANT/MARTIN’S has raised more than $25 million in support of children’s hospitals in the Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Danville/Altoona, PA, Baltimore, MD and Washington, D.C. areas.

GIANT/MARTIN’S is also partnering with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program to provide local children in need with a new toy at Christmas. Customers can bring a new, unwrapped toy to any GIANT/MARTIN’S store now through December 7. Collection boxes will be placed near the customer service desk.
