Northampton Township to Hold Memorial Day Ceremonies

Don't forget that on Wednesday, at the Supervisors meeting, we have a 7:30pm welcome home from Afghanistan for Marine Lance Corporal Drew Sestito.

Although there are many worthy events taking place this Memorial Day holiday, I thought you may be interested in these two events taking place on Memorial Day, May 27th in Northampton Township.

Below is a link to the flyer announcing two Memorial Day ceremonies that will take place in the Richboro section of Northampton Township on May 27th.

At 8:00AM. there will be a flag lowering/raising ceremony in front of the 7 flag poles of the Northampton Township building located at 55 Township Rd, Richboro. Along with the pole hoisting the US flag there are 6 other flag poles each hoisting a flag of the branch of the military (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard and Merchant Marines). This ceremony at 8:00AM should only last approximately 5 minutes and will be conducted by the Marine Corps League's Patriot Detachment.

At 9:00AM there will be an approximately 45 to 55 minute ceremony at the Robert H. Dembowski, Jr. Veterans Memorial Park located at Routes 232 and 332 (2nd Street Pike & Almshouse Rd), Richboro. Included in this ceremony will be a wreath laying by the families of our two Northampton soldiers who were killed in action. They were Army PFC Bobby Dembowski, Jr. and Army Master Sgt. Ken Elwell. We will never forget Bobby and Ken and the service they gave while paying the ultimate price, Bobby Dembowski 6 years ago on May 24, 2007 and Ken Elwell, almost 2 years ago on July 17, 2011.
