Parkinson’s Disease Foundation Offers Online Seminar on Medical Therapies: What's in the Parkinson's Pipeline? on Tuesday, April 16
Expert Information for People Touched by Parkinson’s Disease and Health Professionals
WHAT: Medical Therapies: What's in the Parkinson's Pipeline? is the fifth in a series of free, interactive online and phone seminars, or PD ExpertBriefings, hosted by the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation (PDF). In recognition of April as Parkinson’s Awareness Month, it will focus on what new therapies are on the horizon to treat Parkinson’s. Though only a few of the compounds studied in the lab will make it to pharmacy shelves, there are promising new therapies being investigated in the Parkinson’s disease pipeline. Health care professionals may apply for continuing education credits.
WHO: Kapil D. Sethi, M.D., F.R.C.P., is Professor of Neurology and Director of the Movement Disorders Program at Georgia Regents University in Augusta, GA. The Parkinson’s Disease Foundation ® (PDF®) supports the scientific research and ideas that will improve the lives and futures of people who are touched by Parkinson’s disease. Since its founding in 1957, PDF has invested more than $136 million in research, education and advocacy programs.

WHY: As many as one million Americans live with Parkinson's disease, a chronic and progressive movement disorder for which there is no cure. Though there are treatment options available, they treat the symptoms of the disease and none are proven to reverse the effects of Parkinson’s. This PD ExpertBriefing will help participants to understand the research into potential new therapies to treat Parkinson’s disease, the limitations of current medical therapies and the development of improvements to existing therapies.
WHEN: Tuesday, April 16, 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM ET.
