Students to Experience the Magic of Henry Mercer Thanks to $5,000 Donation from Hatboro Federal

Hatboro Federal Savings President and CEO Joseph J. Tryon, Jr. is pleased to announce the bank's donation of $5000 to help the Mercer Museum and Fonthill Castle launch its "Meet Mercer" educational and community outreach program.
"Supporting educational programs has always been one of Hatboro Federal's key missions," says Tryon. "By offering enriched experiences for classrooms and community organizations including the "Meet Mercer" program, local history and dynamic characters such as Henry Chapman Mercer truly come to life."
C. Jameson Bradley, a resident of Haycock, PA, will use his years of community theater experience to embody Mercer. Bradley, a cabinet-maker by day, bears an uncanny resemblance to Henry. To enhance some of the live performances, his dog, Della, who portrays Mercer's beloved dog, Rollo, will sometimes accompany Bradley.

Mercer (1856–1930), attended Harvard, was a world traveler, noted tile-maker, archaeologist, antiquarian, artist, writer, and leader in the turn-of-the-century Arts and Crafts Movement. Born in Doylestown, Mercer's legacy includes the architectural design and building of the Mercer Museum, Moravian Pottery & Tileworks, and Fonthill Castle, which was his home.
Bradley will debut as Mercer at the McDonald Elementary School on February 27. "It has been a fun experience pulling some of the props together for Henry to use, and we have a terrific set of power point slides to accompany the performance. We thank Hatboro Federal for helping us with this dynamic program," says Cory Amsler, vice president/collections and interpretation for the Mercer Museum, and Bucks County Historical Society.
