Neither hurricane force wind nor widespread power outages could dampen the spirits of the over two hundred and forty women who turned out for the 56th Annual Nurses’ Scholarship Luncheon and Fashion Show on November 1, 2012. Held at Philmont Country Club, this fundraising event by the Women’s Board of Abington Health Foundation boasted raffle baskets put together by its auxiliaries, a “Golden Opportunity” raffle donated by Fred Straub Jewelers of Abington, and a superb fashion show produced by BOC Productions. Local, individually-owned Jenkintown boutiques Berta Sawyer and Linda’s Loft provided the crowd pleasing casual and formal attire and accessories. Guest speakers included Debby Hines, Director of Nursing Education at the Dixon School of Nursing and Maureen Frye, school of nursing alumnus and Director of The Center for Patient Safety and Healthcare Quality at Abington Memorial Hospital. Also in attendance was Colleen Burns, Director of Admissions, Recruitment and Financial Aid at the Dixon School of Nursing. All proceeds from this fine tradition of giving benefited the Nurses’ Scholarship Fund of the Abington Memorial Hospital Dixon School of Nursing.
