Bucks County Man Stabbed To Death On Birthday: Report

A man is dead and a woman is in critical condition after an early-morning stabbing on Foster Drive in Falls Township, police said.

David R. Mathias III was stabbed on his 59th birthday, the Bucks County Courier Times reports.

The incident was reported around 4:30 a.m. on the 6200 block of that road. When police arrived, they found a woman down the street covered in blood who had come from the residence. She was unable to speak at the time due to her injuries and was transported to St. Mary Medical Center, police said during a press conference Monday.

The pair had a previous relationship, but the man had not been seen at the residence for some time, police said. The victim told police that at some point leading up to the stabbing, he entered the house and an altercation ensued.

Detectives are on the scene. A motive for the stabbing remains unclear.

All of the woman's wounds appear to be non life-threatening, police said.
