Burglary, Dog Bites Top Northampton Township Crimes
The Northampton Township Police Department has released its blotter of criminal incidents for June 5 to June 13.

NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA —Dog bites and car accidents, and the burglary of a home were some of the incidents Northampton Township Police handled recently.
The Northampton Township Police Department has released its blotter of criminal incidents for the period of June 5 to June 13.
During this tour, Patrol handled 20 alarm calls, 36 abandoned 911 calls, 35 medical calls, seven domestic dispute calls, eight bookings, 76 traffic monitoring details, and 15 crime prevention details.

06-05-23
Traffic Accident —Patrol responded to a parking lot on 2nd Street Pike for a report of a two-vehicle accident. Unit #1 was attempting to pull into a parking spot when they struck Unit #2, which was already parked and unoccupied. Both vehicles sustained minor damage. No tows were required and no injuries were reported.

Suspicious Incident —Patrol responded to Heather Road and 2nd Street Pike for a suspicious vehicle. The complainant stated they were walking home from work when a silver-colored Toyota Corolla stopped their vehicle next to the complainant and tried to begin a conversation. The complainant became uncomfortable with the vehicle’s operator and called the police. A check was made for area surveillance cameras.
Traffic Accident —While on patrol, officers came upon an accident on Township Road. Unit #2 was stopped at a red light on Township Road when Unit #1 failed to stop and struck Unit #2 in the rear. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage and were towed from the scene. Both drivers complained of injuries but refused transport to the hospital, stating they would drive themselves.

Traffic Accident —Patrol was approached by the complainant who wanted to report a traffic accident. The complainant, Unit #2, states they were stopped for a traffic light on East Village Road when they were struck in the rear by Unit #1. The complainant states that the parties exchanged information and left the scene. The complainant decided they wanted to report the accident to the police. Patrol contacted the driver of Unit #1 who confirmed the events. There was minor damage to both vehicles and no injuries were reported.
Traffic Accident —Patrol responded to Golden Gate Drive for a report of a two-vehicle minor accident. Unit #1 was backing out of their driveway and backed into Unit #2 which was on the opposite side of the street. Both vehicles sustained minor damage and no injuries were reported.

Suspicious Vehicle —Patrol responded to Wood Drive for a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, Patrol found a vehicle with its occupant apparently sleeping. Patrol was able to wake the driver who indicated they were just taking a nap.
Well-Being Check —Patrol responded to Hatboro Road for a report of a vehicle being driven by an individual who had an infant in their arms. Upon arrival, Patrol located the vehicle which had been pulled over and spoke with the driver, who indicated they were waiting for their wife to finish breastfeeding their infant prior to continuing on. Patrol found that all occupants of the vehicle were seat belted and/or in their car seats.

Traffic Accident —Patrol responded to Newtown-Richboro Road and Township Road for a report of a two-vehicle accident. Unit #1 was traveling on Newtown-Richboro Road and proceeded through the traffic light they thought was green and was struck by Unit #2 who was traveling onto Township Road who had proceeded through the traffic light they thought was green. Both vehicles were towed from the scene and minor injuries were reported.
Burglary —Patrol responded to Monica Drive for a report of a burglary. The complainant states that when they returned home from a short time out of the house, they observed miscellaneous belongings scattered about. One of the doors was found ajar. The scene was processed for evidence, and the investigation continues.
Attempted Fraud —Patrol responded to Legacy Oaks Drive for a report of attempted fraud. The complainant states they received a telephone call from someone stating their nephew had been in a traffic accident and was arrested. The caller advised the complainant to gather up $9,500. The complainant realized that this was a scam and when the caller called back to give further instructions, the complainant terminated the call. No personal information was released nor was there any monetary loss.

Information Reported —The complainant came into headquarters to report a letter received. The complainant states they received a letter from the National Police Association in Stafford, TX. The letter was soliciting Quality of Life Policing, also known as “Broken Windows Policing.” The letter asked the complainant to sign a petition to ask Holland City Council to keep Quality of Life policing. The complainant knew it was a scam due to the Holland City Council line and wanted the department to be aware that this was out there. This is not an agency that works with or for Northampton Township Police Department.
Dog Bite —Patrol responded to Stockton Place for a report of a dog bite. The complainant states that while walking their dog on East Village Road a woman came out of the wooded area with two dogs who were fighting with each other and it appeared the woman was having trouble controlling the dogs. At that point, the fighting dogs turned their attention to the complainant and their dog, the dogs got away from the woman holding them and started running after the complainant and their dog. In an attempt to protect their dog, the complainant let go of the leash and their dog started running from the attacking dogs. Unfortunately, they did bite the complainant’s dog. The woman caught up to the dogs, and indicated they were vaccinated but did not give her name.
Traffic Accident —Patrol responded to 2nd Street Pike for a report of a two-vehicle accident. Unit #1 was traveling on 2nd Street Pike and attempted to stop for a red light when their vehicle slid through the intersection striking Unit #2. Both vehicles sustained major damage and were towed from the scene. No injuries were reported.

Theft —Patrol responded to a parking lot on Buck Road for a report of a theft. The complainant, a juvenile, stated they had left their bike outside a business, unlocked it, went into the business and when they returned their bike was gone. A friend stated that whoever took the bike headed down E. Village Road. Patrol was able to locate the bike on West Village Road and return it to Complainant.
DUI Accident —While on patrol, Officers observed a vehicle with several violations. Through investigation, the driver was arrested for suspicion of DUI. The driver was taken to headquarters where they were processed and released.
Dog Bite —While on duty at a local event, Patrol Officers were advised that at least two people were bit by the same dog. The first victim indicates they were petting the dog when the dog abruptly bit their hand, resulting in two puncture wounds. The victim sought medical care at the medical tent of the event. The second victim, also petting the dog with permission, when the dog abruptly latched onto their hand and would not let go, when it did the victim suffered a tear and multiple puncture wounds, the victim was transported to St. Mary Medical Center. It was then reported that a possible third person was bitten. The dog was taken into custody for quarantining purposes. The owner indicated the dog was current with its vaccines, and would provide a copy to officers.

Weapons —Patrol responded to a parking lot on Buck Road for a report of a large fight. Upon arrival, there did not appear to be a physical altercation, more of a verbal dispute between a large group of people. One of the individuals showed officers a video of one of the people discharging a firearm. Officers were able to locate the shooter in the crowd. They were arrested, charged with Recklessly Endangering Another Person, and taken to headquarters where they were, processed, arraigned, and released by the Judge with unsecured bail.
Traffic Accident —Patrol responded to Middle Holland and Old Jordan Roads for a report of a two-vehicle accident. Unit #2 was traveling on Middle Holland Road when suddenly, Unit #1 was in front of them. Unit #1 appeared to have attempted to make a right onto Middle Holland Road, lost control of their vehicle and was hit by Unit #2. The driver of Unit #1 was taken to St. Mary Medical Center. The driver of Unit #2 indicated they would take themselves to the hospital. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Ordinance Violations —Patrol responded to Shelley Road for a report of someone burning leaves and branches. Patrol contacted the homeowner and advised they were unable to burn without a permit. The homeowner understood and had already put the fire out.
