Man With Knife Killed By Police ID'd In Northampton Twp.
Bucks County authorities said a 40-year-old man was shot and killed during an incident on Elm Avenue Sunday night.

NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA —A 40-year-old man armed with a knife was killed by police in an incident on Elm Avenue in Churchville Sunday night, authorities said.
Bucks County Coroner Meredith Buck said in a press release Tuesday afternoon that the Northampton Police Department was involved in a police-related shooting Sunday evening.

Buck said the initial 911 call was requesting police intervention for the man attempting to take his own life with said knife.
When police responded to the scene, they were reportedly met by a man wielding a large knife coming towards them.

The man was transported to St. Mary Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 8:06 p.m.
He has been identified as Mark Chambers, 40, of Northampton Township.
After an autopsy Monday, Buck reported his cause of death as multiple gunshot wounds and
determined the manner of death as homicide.
The Bucks County District Attorney's Office is now investigating the shooting.
A Northampton Township police officer was also treated for injuries suffered in the incident, authorities said.
The Bucks County District Attorney’s Office and their Detectives were notified and responded and are now leading the investigation, authorities said.
The Northampton Township Police Department posted late Sunday that the 500 block of Elm Avenue was closed due to a police investigation before being reopened again.
Police had stated that there was no threat to the public.
Buck extends her “Office’s deepest condolences to the decedent’s family and friends with thoughts and concerns extended to the entire Northampton Police Department during this tragic time.”
