Northampton Police Log: Stolen Baseball Banner, Car Accidents

Police reported 16 alarms, 28 abandoned 911 calls, 35 medical calls, 6 domestic disputes and 27 bookings last week.

NORTHAMPTON, PA — The Northampton Township Police Department made multiple different traffic stops and received several reports of fraud between July 26 and August 1.

Monday, July 26

Police responded to a two-vehicle traffic accident at Jacksonville Road and West Bristol Road. One car rear-ended the other. There were no reported injuries and neither car required a tow.

Police responded to Newtown Richboro Road after someone asked for a wellbeing check on a young person walking barefoot near the road. Police drove her back to her residence.

A complainant reported that someone opened a Mastercard and a BJ’s membership using his 7
information. The unknown person charged $950 to the card plus the $50 membership. Mastercard and BJ’s have been notified.

Police stopped a driver on East Bristol Road who they say was swerving all over the roadway. After further investigation, the driver was taken into custody.

Tuesday, July 27

A complainant reported that his credit monitoring service notified him that someone attempted to take out a loan using his information. He was approved for a $30,000 loan from Albright College and a $168,000 loan from Sallie Mae bank. Both companies were notified and the transactions were cancelled.

Wednesday, July 28

Police responded to a local business for a report of an intoxicated person. Police provided the person with a courtesy transport.

Police responded to West Bristol Road at Wordsworth Road for a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident. One car rear-ended the other. There were no reported injuries and neither vehicle required a tow.

Thursday, July 29

Police made contact with someone in front of the Northampton Township Library, and learned that he had an active warrant out for his arrest. He was taken into custody without incident.

Police responded to 2nd St. Pike at Bustleton Pike for a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident. A tractor trailer struck a sign while negotiating a turn. The sign then struck a parked car, causing minor damage. There were no reported injuries.

Police went to someone’s residence because he had a warrant out of Philadelphia for receiving stolen property. He was taken into custody without incident.

Police responded to a residence for a report of an assault and took someone into custody.

Friday, July 30

Police responded to Jacksonville Road at Ashley Drive for a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident. One car rear-ended the other. There were no reported injuries and neither car required a tow.

Police responded to Bustleton Pike at Willow Road for a report of a two-vehicle traffic accident. The first car rear-ended the second. There were no reported injuries, but the first car required a tow due to disabling damage.

Saturday, July 31

Police responded to St. Leonards Ballfield for a report of a theft. The complainant reported that someone stole the “El Barrio” banner from the right field fence.

Sunday, August 1

Police saw a vehicle traveling northbound on Hatboro Road with an expired registration and failing to stay in its lane of travel. Police tried to make a traffic stop, but the driver fled. Police went to the driver’s house and he was taken into custody for fleeing and eluding, driving under the influence, and other offenses.
