Northampton Police Report: Loose Emu, DUI Arrest, More Scams
Police also responded to several fire calls including a small brush fire sparked by a tractor.
NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA — The Northampton Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between Nov. 18 and Nov. 24:
November 18
- Traffic Accident - Patrol responded to the area of Hatboro Road and Almshouse Road for a traffic accident. Unit 2 was stopped on Hatboro Road at Almshouse Road for the traffic signal when unit 1 struck them from behind. Tow was not required.
- Fire - Patrol responded to Rocksville Road for the report of a fire. Once on location, police spoke with the property owner who reported that the leaf fire had started from a tractor. The Northampton Township Fire Department arrived on scene and soaked the area down.
- Traffic Accident - Patrol responded to the area of Middle Holland Road and Old Jordan Road for a traffic accident. Unit 1 was on Liberty Drive and was attempting to cross over Middle Holland Road to Old Jordan Road. While traveling across the road, unit 1 made contact with unit 2 which was traveling eastbound on Middle Holland Road. Tow was required.
November 19

- Fraud - Complainant reported that an unknown person gained access to their bank account information and made several charges on the complainant’s debit card. Information was gathered and this report was forwarded to detectives.
November 20
- Dog Complaint - Patrol responded to the area of Bobbie Drive for a found dog. Patrol was able to locate where the dog lives and the dog owner and dog were reunited.
November 21

- Fire - Patrol responded to a building in the 1000 block of 2nd Street Pike for the report of an odor inside the business. The Northampton Township Fire department arrived on scene and the issue was coming from a HVAC unit on the rooftop.
November 22
- Scam - A complainant contacted police to report a phone scam. The complainant reported that they received a phone call from someone claiming to be their grandson. The complainant did not have a grandson, and the phone call was terminated. Information was gathered.
- Scam - A complainant contacted police in regards to a scam. The complainant reported that they received a phone call from PECO reporting that they were late on their payments and that their power would be shut off unless they paid the balance. Once the phone call was terminated, the complainant called PECO directly only to find that they were all up to date with their account. The phone call was a scam
- Traffic Accident (Deer Involved) - Patrol responded to the 200 block of Buck Road for a traffic accident. Unit 1 was traveling northbound on Buck Road when a deer entered the roadway. As a result, contact was made. No tow was required.
November 23
- DUI Arrest - Patrol initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a vehicle violation in the 1900 block of 2nd Street Pike. Through investigation, the driver was taken into custody for the suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
November 24
- Found Animal - Patrol responded to the 800 block of Sackettsford Road for the report of a loose Emu. Once on location, patrol was able to locate the owner of the animal.
During this tour, patrol handled 18 alarm calls, 11 abandoned 911 calls, 33 medical emergencies, 12 bookings, six domestic disputes, seven civil disputes, 74 traffic monitoring details and nine crime prevention details.
