Police Arrest Two Men On Burglary Charges In Northampton Township

The suspects may be responsible for a string of burglaries in the township and surrounding communities, said Chief Steven LeCompte.

RICHBORO, PA — Two men, who police believe may have been involved in a string of burglaries in Northampton Township and surrounding communities, were taken into custody Monday evening by police.

Police said Giorgi Maxarashvili and Zurab Kenkishvili were observed by police walking across the front yard of a home in Richboro during the early evening. They were wearing dark clothing and masks, police said.

When police confronted the suspects, who were loitering and prowling in the rear yard, they fled and a foot chase ensued toward a nearby shopping center where one of the men was captured. A short time later the second suspect was located and taken into custody, police said.

The men, who police said are not front Bucks County, were arraigned and charged with burglary, possessing an instrument of crime, loitering and prowling at night and evading arrest or detention on foot. They were remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility in lieu of $500,000 bail (10 percent).

A detainer was lodged against Zurab Kenkishvili by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol, police said.

According to Police Chief Steven LeCompte, police are looking into whether the men are responsible for additional burglaries in the township and surrounding communities.

Police were assisted by Newtown Township Police, Lower Southampton Police, and Upper Southampton Police in capturing the suspects.
