Police Handle Traffic Issues, Make Drug Arrest In Northampton
The Northampton Police Department reported the following incidents between July 1 and July 7.
RICHBORO, PA — The Northampton Township Police Department reported the following incidents and arrests between July 1 and July 7.
In addition, police handled 29 alarm calls, 13 abandoned 911 calls, 40 medical emergencies, five bookings, seven domestic disputes, nine civil disputes, 50 traffic monitoring details, and crime prevention.
July 1

- Traffic Accident - Patrol responded to 2nd Street Pike and Upland Drive for a traffic accident. Unit 1 was traveling northbound on 2nd Street Pike and had stopped to make a left turn onto Upland Drive. While stopped, unit 1 was struck by unit 2 which was traveling the same direction on 2nd Street Pike. Tow was not required.
- Vehicle Lockout - Patrol responded to the 1000 block of 2nd Street Pike for a vehicle lockout. Once on location, contact was made with the vehicle owner who had locked themselves out. Using lockout tools, patrol was able to gain entry.
- Traffic Accident (deer involved) - Patrol responded to Buck Road and East Holland Road for a traffic accident. Unit 1 was traveling northbound on Buck Road when a deer entered the roadway. As a result, contact was made. Tow was not required.
July 2
- Road/Traffic Hazard - Patrol responded to the 600 block of Sackettsford Road for a large tree branch that had fallen onto the road. Once on location, patrol located the tree branch which was removed from the roadway.
- Traffic Accident - Patrol responded to the 300 block of Newtown-Richboro Road for a traffic accident. Unit 2 was traveling westbound on Newtown-Richboro Road when it came to a stop. Unit 1 was traveling behind unit 2 and struck them from behind. Tow was not required.
July 3

- Assist Other Police Department - Patrol assisted Warrington Township Police Department with an incident in their jurisdiction.
- Fire - Patrol responded to Walnut Drive for the report of a fire. Once on location, a bush was found to be on fire. The Northampton Township Fire Department arrived on scene and the fire was extinguished.
July 4
- Found Property - A complainant came to police headquarters with property they had found in a parking lot in Richboro. Patrol was able to locate the owner and the property was returned.
- Traffic Accident (deer involved) - Patrol responded to Holland Road and Newtown-Richboro Road for a traffic accident. Unit 1 was traveling northbound on Holland Road approaching Newtown-Richboro Road when a deer jumped in front of their vehicle. As a result, contact was made. Tow was not required.
- Hit and Run - Traffic Accident Patrol responded to the area of St. Leonard’s Road and Summer Drive for a traffic accident. Unit 1 was being operated on the road when it struck unit 2 which was parked. The driver of unit 1 fled the scene on foot. Through investigation, the driver of unit 1 was identified. Tow was required.
July 5
- Fraud - A complainant reported receiving a bank statement for an account that was opened using their information. They had contacted the bank. Information was gathered.
- Traffic Stop (Drug Arrest) - Patrol initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for a violation in the area of Buck Road and Rocksville Road. Through investigation, the driver was taken into custody for drugs and drug paraphernalia.
July 6
- Wires/Pole - Patrol responded to Wren Drive for the report of a transformer that was leaking oil onto a pole. Once on location, patrol located the issue. PECO was contacted and responded to the scene.
July 7
- Traffic Accident - Patrol responded to the area of 2nd Street Pike and Almshouse Road for a traffic accident. Unit 1 was traveling northbound on 2nd Street Pike and attempted to switch lanes. While doing so, unit 1 struck unit 2 which was waiting to make a left turn onto Almshouse Road. Tow was not required.
