Presentation To Explore School Redistricting, Consolidation In Council Rock
Council Rock School District administrators will make a presentation about elementary school enrollment at the Oct. 1 school board meeting.

The topic of redistricting and school consolidation in Council Rock will be back on the table during a meeting next week.
The district’s administrative team will be making a presentation about elementary school enrollment during the Council Rock School Board meeting on Oct 1.
The presentation will also begin to “explore potential options for redistricting and school consolidation,” according to an announcement from Superintendent Robert Fraser.

In November 2014, the board made a motion that elementary school enrollment be reviewed at the first board meeting in October, Fraser explained.
That motion followed numerous meetings and discussions about school consolidation, which resulted in Wrightstown Elementary school staying open and upper grade levels moving to Newtown Elementary. That change began this school year.

But recently, many in the community have been expressing their desire for full-day Kindergarten.
Earlier this month, the board’s Academic Standards Committee heard a presentation about the potential for full-day Kindergarten.
“Given that it is a topic of discussion and consideration, one cannot talk about school capacities without including the potential of full-day Kindergarten,” Fraser said in an email to Patch. He noted part of next week’s update will include a reference to full-day Kindergarten.

No decisions will be made on the issue at the Oct. 1 meeting, Fraser said. The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Chancellor Center and will be televised live on CRTV.
