The Northampton Township Police Department received a report about a chicken in the roadway earlier this month.

In its police blotter for the period of Nov. 28 to Dec. 4, police responded to an animal complaint.

On Dec. 1, police reported to Newtown-Richboro Road near Titus Road for a report of a chicken in the roadway.

But when patrol arrived, the chicken was gone from the area, police said.

Northampton Township is home to several farms. And sometimes, animals get loose, as a horse did back in early October.

The police department did not provide further information about the incident.

So we don't know if fowl play was involved. But the report is definitely not an eggs-ageration.
