What Was Loud Boom In Northampton Twp.? Police Don't Know
Northampton Twp. residents saw a flash in the sky and heard a "loud boom" Saturday night. Police and the Bucks Co. DA are investigating.

NORTHAMPTON TOWNSHIP, PA —They heard a loud boom.
And then members of the Northampton Township Community Page on Facebook took to social media to figure out what that boom Saturday night was all about.

No one seems to know what the "loud sound" heard around 10:30 p.m. Saturday. In fact, others throughout Lower Bucks County said they heard it too.
The Northampton Township Police Department Monday afternoon confirmed the "loud boom" that was heard throughout the township over the weekend.

"We are currently looking into the cause of the noise," police said. "There is no reason for alarm or to panic."
The Bucks County District Attorney's Office and Bucks County Rangers are also investigating the boom, said Manuel Gamiz, spokesman for the District Attorney’s Office.
Dispatchers with the Bucks County 911 Center received at least 75 calls about the explosion around 10:30 p.m. Saturday.
A Bucks County drone team was sent out that night and Sunday morning.
Some members of the Northampton Facebook page reported seeing a flash in the sky followed by what one resident said may have been a "sonic" boom.
Meanwhile, there were other reports on social media of people hearing the boom throughout Lower Bucks County, including Newtown, Lower Makefield Township, Levittown, and Bensalem Township.
Some said it shook their house. Others reported hearing it in Feasterville and in Upper Dublin Township in nearby Montgomery County as well. One woman, who said her husband is a meteorologist, said it may have been a meteor that exploded in the sky.
Others said there were fireworks 20 minutes earlier and "pop, pop, pop" sounds before the boom. Another said her daughter was driving at the time and saw the sky turn white.
"I never heard something quite like that," one resident said.
Police said they would update residents once more information becomes available.
