City Hall's William Penn Explodes In New 'Shazam!' Trailer
A new trailer for the Philly-set DC superhero movie shows City Hall's iconic William Penn statue get blown to smithereens by a bad guy.
PHILADELPHIA — "Shazam!" is DC Comics' next flick to hit the theaters and it's chock-full of Philadelphia stuff as its set here in the City of Brotherly Love. Its new trailer, released for the Chinese market, shows one of the city's most iconic statutes getting blown to bits.
In the new trailer, William Penn's statue that sits atop City Hall is destroyed by a lighting bolt shot by Shazam's enemy Dr. Thaddeus Sivana.
"Shazam!" stars Asher Angel as orphaned Philadelphia teen Billy Baston who is granted supernatural powers to become Shazam, played by Zachary Levi, when he says "shazam." Shazam has superhuman strength, speed, flight and other super powers.

Back in December 2018, film crews were spotted in the city getting additional footage of skylines and aerial shots.
Previously released trailers show some iconic views of the city, including the back of the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the skyline, the Ben Franklin Parkway.

Police cruisers, a SEPTA train, and a few SEPTA buses (one careening off of a highway) can also be spotted in the trailers.
The film is being released nationwide on April 5.
