Dave Chappelle Hosting The Roots Picnic This Summer

The legendary Roots crew is gearing up for the annual music event in June. Performers include Lil Uzi Vert, 2Chainz, The Diplomats and more.

PHILADELPHIA – Each year, Philly's own The Roots host The Roots Picnic music event. And this year they have stand up comedy giant Dave Chappelle hosting the annual celebration.

The picnic will be held on June 2 at Festival Pier, 601 N. Christopher Columbus Boulevard.

The Roots and Chappelle have a long history, with the legendary crew even teaming up with Chappelle for the 2005 documentary "Dave Chappelle's Block Party."

This year, performers on the Music Stages include Lil Uzi Vert (another Philly native), The Diplomats, 2Chainz, Dirty Projectors, Brandy, 6lack.

The Roots MC Blackthought and mixtape DJ J.Period will do a live mixtape show featuring rappers Fabolous and Jadakiss, as well.

In addition to music, there will be live podcast recordings of Questlove Supreme with The Roots' own Questlove, The Realest Podcast Ever, Drink Champs, and more at the event's Podcast Stage

To round it out, the Lifestyle Stage will host a Madden and NBA 2K video game tournament as well as fashion, art, and hustle panels.

Ticket packages vary and include a VIP pass, a festival pass, a VIP pit pass, and of course general admission.

While presales are live now, general tickets go on sale at noon Friday, Feb. 16.
