PA Should Legalize Weed Like Colorado, Says Kenney: Report

"The real solution to this is legalizing it in the state of Pennsylvania as they did in Colorado," Kenney reportedly said Monday

After a marijuana party bust occurred over the weekend in Philadelphia, Mayor Jim Kenney has come out Monday morning saying Pennsylvania needs to follow suit with Colorado and legalize marijuana. Kenney said doing so would free up police resources to help fight more serious crimes in the city and state.

According to Philly.com, Kenney said Monday that PA should join a growing list of states that are legalizing marijuana.

"The real solution to this is legalizing it in the state of Pennsylvania as they did in Colorado," Kenney said according to Philly.com. "We won’t have to use police resources in these kinds of activities and actions."

Kenney's statements come on the heels of a big bust this weekend where police seized 50 pounds of marijuana, $50,000 in cash, four handguns, and about 100 pounds of THC-infused edibles at a weed party in Frankford, according to Philly.com.

While Kenney said he agreed with the decision to investigate the party due to the amount of pot there, he said he hopes police in the city and across the state can eventually focus on other issues that pose more serious risks to the public.
