Philly Explodes After Eagles Win: Crisco Poles, Wild Celebrations
Celebratory chaos gripped the streets of Philadelphia as the Eagles earned their first Super Bowl berth in 13 years. See photos here.

PHILADELPHIA, PA -- When the Eagles beat the Vikings to cement their first Super Bowl berth in 13 years, the city of Philadelphia became, expectedly, a madhouse.
Fireworks boomed in several neighborhoods around the city. Pots and pans were clanged in the streets like it was New Years Eve. Excited fans thronged to Broad Street, filling the road from block to block. And in the midst of that chaos, down in south Philadelphia, at least one fan managed to climb a pole that had been greased with Crisco by the "Grease Police" to prevent that climbing.
Meanwhile, on the Broad Street Line, a video captured a group of cheering fans inside the train yelling to a man who was running on the platform, trying to keep up with the train. As the train picked up speed out of AT&T Station, the man ran head-on into a pole on the platform. No Crisco required.

In another display of Eagles pride, cars were spray-painted green around Temple University in the wake of the game. And yet again, a police horse was on the receiving end of a tailgating fiasco that resulted in a North Wales man being arrested.

The evening evoked memories for many of when the Phillies won the World Series in 2008. The Phillies 2009 World Series loss to the Yankees marked the last time a Philadelphia sports franchise reached their league's championship.
There were also, of course, some darker overtones, including Eagles fans pelting Vikings fans with beers. As TV host Willie Geist put it: scheduling the NFC Championship in Philadelphia for 6:40 p.m. "has given Eagles fans a terrifying amount of time to tailgate."
Here's a glance at what the mini drought-busting celebrations looked like around the city.
