Pitbull Headlining Welcome America Free July 4 Concert In Philly

The Ben Franklin parkway will be filled with the sounds of the rap megastar as part of Wawa's annual Welcome America Festival this summer.

PHILADELPHIA – Wawa's Welcome America Festival is continuing its streak of bringing in huge names for its free July 4th concert, as it was announced Monday, April 9 that rap megastar Pitbull would headline the concert.

On July 4, Pitbull will take the stage at the Benjamin Franklin Parkway for the free concert.

Pitbull is a Cuban-American Grammy-winning global superstar, business entrepreneur, and community icon who has No. 1 hits in over 15 countries, nine billion YouTube/VEVO views, 70 million single sales and six million album sales.

In addition to the world-wide star headlining, the The Philly POPS Big Band will make another appearance for the concert.

Tony- and Grammy-winner Heather Headley, known for her role as Nala in the original run of "The Lion King" on Broadway, will perform with the pops, as well.

Last year, R&B legend Mary J. Blige headlined the concert.

The Welcome America Festival runs from Thursday, June 28 to Wednesday, July 4 with the Party on the Parkway, which will not only include the free concert, but also a free fireworks show in front of the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

The Party on the Parkway is set to be held from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

The party is is just one of the 50 free events planned for the Welcome America Festival.
