Terror Behind the Walls Prepares for Another Scary Season

One of the nation's top Halloween attractions is ratcheting up the spine-tingling experiences as Terror Behind the Walls at Eastern State Penitentiary prepares for its 2018 season of scares. The new Infirmary takes the fear of scalpels, bed pans and hospitals to a whole new level.

In this newly revamped and highly interactive attraction, visitors to Terror Behind the Walls will encounter the likes of maniacal doctors, dentists, and nurses, oh my!

Infirmary is the fourth of six haunted attractions that make up the total TBTW experience. Each year the producers at Eastern State look for new ways to scare the wits out of visitors and this haunted house season is no exception.

Upon entering the attraction, visitors make their way through Cellblock 12, reportedly the most haunted location inside the penitentiary complete with zombie inmates, prison guards and lots of fog. With nowhere to go but straight ahead, guests are herded into the Machine Shop, hidden deep in the cellblocks. Will you become just another cog in the wheel or will you managed to escape and follow the path of bones to the Blood Yard.

Quarantine: 4D will challenge brave visitors to face their worst fears as they learn of an infectious outbreak complete with distorted depth perception and creatures that seemingly appear out of thin air and challenge the senses. And just when visitors thought it is safe to go home, think again. In Break Out, guests find themselves in the middle of a prison riot as zombie inmates use every way imaginable to block the escape to
freedom.

If that isn't enough to scare you, Eastern State offers some add-on packages to your basic admission ticket that will take your experience to another bone-chilling level. The After Dark VIP Tour features an
hour-long, guided flashlight walking tour of the prison where visitors can hear about inmate uprisings, escapes and other incidents about the jail's sordid history. Fright and a Bite dinner packages include a Halloween-themed meal at a participating local restaurant prior to your visit to the prison. The Speakeasy allows guests a chance to visit gangster Al Capone's cell and wind down from their fright night with live entertainment and table games.

Consistently ranked among the nation's top haunted attractions, Eastern State has been serving up thrills and chills for years. The setting for Infirmary as part of Terror Behind the Walls is perfect. Iron gates, crumbling cell blocks, empty guard towers and an occasional stray black cat all add to the excitement and fear factor at Eastern State, once the most infamous and expensive prison in the world.

By day the structure is very intimidating with its 30-foot high fortress walls but at night that is when the ghosts and ghouls come out to play. It is one thing to tour a haunted house or attraction but it is another to commit to a fully immersive experience. Do you want to explore the prison and watch the action or should you interact with residents of the cellblocks? If you opt for the interactive experience you may be grabbed, held back, become temporarily separated from your group and sent into hidden passageways. Who knows you may even encounter a real ghost-host.

Many visitors believe Eastern State is haunted. As early as the 1940's, officers and inmates at the then-functioning prison reported mysterious visions and eerie experiences at the jail. Eastern State may be the most carefully studied building in the United States when it comes to paranormal activity. More than 800
paranormal investigations have been conducted at the site in 2018 alone.

So if you are looking for giggles or ghosts, Terror Behind the Walls will run select nights from September 21 through November 10. You can get more information at http://www.easternstate.org/halloween/
