Road Work On Phoenixville's Pothouse Road To Increase Traffic
Increased traffic can be expected. The exact duration of the work is not presently known.

It’s a summer of roadwork and discontent in Phoenixville.
Road work began at the intersection of Pothouse Road and Charlestown Road/West Bridge Street last week, the Phoenixville School District announced. They were informed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation on July 9.
“The exact duration of the work is not presently known, but (the work) is expected to be completed well in advance of mid-August,” the school district said on their website.

The railroad tracks currently crossing the intersection are being removed by the railroad company, and then the road surface will be milled and repaved.

A crown will be added to the road to improve water run-off after storms.
And the road will be widened so that left turn lanes can be installed.
Residents can expect increased traffic congestion in the area until the project is completed.
There will also be brief delays in the bussing schedules for the summer programs underway in the School District.
Here’s a brief recap of this summer’s hellish traffic in the Phoenixville area:
- The Route 23 Bridge closure has caused “nightmarish” congestion
- 17 miles of state highway are set to be repaved this summer
- U.S. 422 “buckled” in the heat earlier this summer
- Horses stopped traffic at one point
- Egypt Road’s closure is diverting more traffic to Phoenixville
Traffic, along with parking, has been commonly cited as the number one issue facing the borough.
