3 Dead In 2 Pittsburgh-Area Fires

Flames tore through two homes in the Pittsburgh area and claimed three lives.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Two fires claimed the lives of three people in the Pittsburgh area on Monday and early Tuesday.

One person was killed and another injured in a fire in Shaler early Tuesday that broke out around 2 a.m. on Beyrleye Avenue. The name of the man who died in the fire has not been released. The condition of the injured person is unknown.

At around 1 p.m. on Monday, a fire was reported in the 5000 block of Thoms Run Road in South Fayette. Initially, responders on scene could not confirm occupancy and made several contacts to confirm the whereabouts of the occupants while completing their scene search.

Two bodies were found on the second floor. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victims as Benito Bonilla, 81, and Barbara Bonilla, 75.
