Arson-Ravaged Pittsburgh Bar D's Strives To Reopen
D's Six Pax and Dogz sustained extensive damage in an early August blaze police say was deliberately set.

SWISSVALE, PA — It's a question that's been on the minds of loyal patrons of D's Six Pax and Dogz since it was deliberately damaged by fire in August: When will the popular bar and restaurant reopen?
Originally, estimates were the popular eatery in the Swissvale portion of Regent Square would be closed for about a week. That stretched to a month and now it's been nearly two. While the bar is starting to resemble what it looked like before the blaze, it's still weeks before those dogs will be back on the grill.
Pictures posted on Facebook show a sight sure to make any brewski fan queasy: D's beer cave, which usually has more than a thousand beers lining its shelves, is empty and looks like an ordinary vacant basement. Spaghetti-like strands of wiring hang from the ceiling over the bar area.

Joseph Pepp, 28, of Crafton Heights, faces three counts of aggravated arson and other charges in connection with the fire.

According to police, an argument occurred between a bartender and a trio that included Pepp, who were refused drinks after last call was given. In retaliation, one of them walked to the rear of the building and set a commercial recycling bin on fire.
Surveillance video determined the fire was set by someone matching Pepp's description, police said.
