CoGo's Convenience Store Chain Sold
The Pittsburgh chain has been around since the 1960s.

PITTSBURGH, PA - The CoGo’s convenience store chain, a Pittsburgh staple for more than a half-century, has been acquired by Coen Markets Inc. The Canonsburg-based Coen, which operates more than two dozen convenience stores in southwestern Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio and northern West Virginia, is adding CoGo’s 38 stores in Pittsburgh and its nearby suburbs.
A purchase price was not announced for the chain, founded as Stop-N-Go in 1962 and rebranded as CoGo’s in the mid-1980s.
“We are thrilled to announce Coen’s latest acquisition. CoGo’s footprint is highly complementary to Coen’s existing stores, Coen Markets CEO Charles McIlvane said in a statement. “The combined platform will enable Coen to expand its guest engagement and offer to a larger market its signature food offerings.”

Said CoGo’s CEO John Eby: “We are proud of our team and the business that we have built at CoGo’s. Like Coen, CoGo’s is and has been family owned. We found that Coen’s culture and track record of success were a strong match to ensure continued growth.”
Coen currently operates 27 stores under the Ruff Creek Markets name. Its CoGo’s purchase follows the sale of its Coen Energy business last year.
