Damar Hamlin: Buffalo Bills Player Suffers Cardiac Arrest
The former University of Pittsburgh star went into cardiac arrest in the Bills-Bengals game Monday night.

CINCINNATI, OH— Buffalo Bills safety and former University of Pittsburgh player Damar Hamlin remained in critical condition early Tuesday after going into cardiac arrest during the Bills game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The game was postponed after the incident.
The Bills released the following statement: “Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in our game versus the Bengals. His heartbeat was restored on the field and he was transferred to the UC Medical Center for further testing and treatment. He is currently sedated and listed in critical condition."
A statement from the NFL said, "Our thoughts are with Damar and the Buffalo Bills. "We will provide more information as it becomes available."

In the game's first quarter, Hamlin tackled Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins after a 13-yard catch. Hamlin got to his feet, then collapsed. He received CPR on the field before being taken in an ambulance to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center.
Hamlin reportedly has been sedated.

Hamlin is a Central Catholic High School graduate who appeared in 48 games for Pitt. As a senior, he was a second-team all Atlantic Coast Conference performer, a team captain and was chosen to play in the Senior Bowl.
He was the Bills' sixth-round draft choice in 2021 and became a starter this year.
