Dormant Pittsburgh Brewery Reopening Under New Owner, New Name
A popular Pittsburgh brewery that shut down last fall has been purchased by an expanding restaurant and bar business.
PITTSBURGH, PA — A South Hills brewery that closed last November will reopen under new ownership and a new name.
Mindful Brewing Company on Library Road in Castle Shannon has been acquired by the owners of the Galley Group, which operates the Federal Galley on the North Side and Arthur's Korner Pub in Mt. Lebanon. The Galley Group announced the move via social media.
"In the next few weeks, we’ll be re-branding Mindful Brewing to Chimera Brewing which means we’ve already started planning to (hopefully) open for all of you come late summer," a Facdebook post stated. "We have a lot of exciting things in store like a brewer apprenticeship program, brand new beers, and a fully revamped menu."

It's unclear how extensive renovations to the building's interior will be. Located in a former McGinnis Sisters grocery store, Mindful housed a brewery, a restaurant and bar with 70 beers on tap and a bottle shop stocking more than 1,000 different beers. Mindful had been in operation since 2017.
