The investigation into the death of Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins on a Florida interstate Saturday is continuing.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The mystery surrounding the death of Steelers quarterback Dwayne Haskins on a Florida interstate Saturday morning might not be solved for months.
The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the incident but said Monday the status of the probe won't be updated until the case is closed. The inquiry could take 9o to 120 days to complete.
Haskins, 24, a former first-round draft choice of the Washington Commanders, was struck by a dump truck while attempting to cross Interstate 595 westbound on foot. The driver of the truck stayed on the scene and no criminal charges have been filed.

USA Today reported there is no convenient pedestrian access to the roadway and there was no apparent reason for Haskins to attempt to cross the road on foot.
NBC 6 South Florida spoke to a man who believes he saw Haskins on the interstate minutes before the fatality. Chris Stanley told the TV station he saw a man appearing to drift onto the highway on foot and was so concerned he called 911.

Stanley did not observe a vehicle that Haskins could have been driving prior to the accident.
Haskins played college football at Ohio State, where he threw 50 touchdown passes and finished third in Heisman Trophy voting in 2018.
Ohio State football coach Ryan Day said Monday that the team would honor Haskins at its spring game on Saturday. Specifics on the tribute were not available.
"The loss of Dwayne is beyond tragic and extremely difficult to process," Day said on Twitter after the death.
"For those who knew him closely, he was much more than a great football player. He had a giant heart, old soul and an infectious smile. The Ohio State community and our entire football program are heartbroken."
Darren Haynes, sports director for WUSA -TV in Washington, D.C., stated on Twitter that the Haskins family will have a memorial service at the Bullis School in Potomac, MD, where he was a standout athlete in high school. The funeral will be in his hometown of Highland Park, NJ.
Dates for both events have yet to be announced.
