Here are the top stories in Pittsburgh today:
1) Newly appointed Sen. John Fetterman will open an office in Pittsburgh next month. "The office at 310 Grant St., Downtown, will be open to the public in April." This marks his fifth in-state office location, following sites in Philadelphia, Harrisburg, and Erie. "Our team is proud to open another office to serve the people of Pennsylvania, this time in Pittsburgh," said Joe Pierce, state director for Fetterman.
2) March Madness isn't just for NCAA basketball — Kennywood is getting in on it too. The local amusement park is pitting its rides against each other and asking people to vote and crown a winning 'favorite ride.' "This year's tournament has classic and thrills brackets, and the first round on March 16-17 leaves people with some difficult choices." The second round will follow on March 25-26, and the third will run from March 31-April 1. The championship is slated for April 2-3. Voting takes place via Twitter polls on Kennywood's profile.
3) A Butler-area mall security guard was dragged for nearly a quarter of a mile behind a vehicle going nearly 35 mph while trying to apprehend thieves. The stolen items in question? A 13-foot foam carrot and a piñata from an Easter display at the Clearview Mall. The guard was reportedly not injured in the incident. "Anyone with information on the crime is asked to contact Butler Pennsylvania State Police."
4) The 2023 Susan G. Komen 'More than Pink Walk' is coming up on May 21. The event, which will take place at Schenley Park, is free for participants. "All participants who raise a minimum of $100 will receive a commemorative event T-shirt." Interested participants can register for the race or donate here.
5) The annual Pittsburgh Arts and Crafts Spring Fever Festival is going on this weekend at the Monroeville Convention Center. "Visitors can browse and shop more than 160 exhibitors selling an assortment of arts and craft goods as well as food and beverages." More specifically, guests can expect to find handmade and curated products like home decor, accessories, jewelry, clothing, cuisine and more. Admission is free for children under 12, $6 for adults, and $5.50 for seniors.
