Last Call For Popular Pittsburgh Brewpub
After a 13-year run, this city staple has shut its doors.

PITTSBURGH, PA — Once one of the most popular brewpubs in Pittsburgh, Hough's in Greenfield has permanently closed. The bar's last day was Friday.
The neighborhood tavern on Greenfield Avenue had a 13-year-run had several dozen beers on tap and offered an array of microbrews. The bar's Sunday brunch drew people from all over the city.
Hough's took over an adjoining space to the bar and for several years operated the Copper Kettle Brewing Company, Pennsylvania's sole brew-on-premises facility. Customers chose a recipe, measured ingredients, brought malt, grains and hops to boil and then bottled their own beer.

When the Copper Kettle ceased operations, the space became a location for pop-up bars such as The Tipsy Elf, which was Christmas-themed, and Neverland, whose concept was inspired by Peter Pan.
As for what's next for the Hough's space: According to Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board records, Necromancer Brewing Co. has a pending liquor license for the address. Necromancer has operated a Ross Township location for two years.
