Multiple Ex-Steelers To Participate In Super Bowl

Former Pittsburgh Steelers players will be on the field when the Seattle Seahawks battle the New England Patriots in Sunday's Super Bowl.

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Steelers got whacked in the first round of the NFL playoffs this season, but the team will still have a presence at Sunday's Super Bowl. Four former players are participating in the NFL's supereme event between the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots.

They are:

Mike Vrabel, Patriots head coach.

The Steelers selected Vrabel, a linebacker, in the third round (91st overall) of the 1997 NFL draft. He played four seasons with the team, totaling 36 tackles, 5.5 sacks and a fumble recovery.

Vrabel then played eight seasons for the Patriots and two seasons for the Kansas City Chiefs before retiring. He spent six years as head coach of the Tennessee Titans from 2018-2023 before being fired. This is his first season as the Patriots coach.

Joshua Dobbs, Patriots quarterback

The Steelers selected Dobbs in the fourth round of the 2017 draft and spent that season on the bench behind Ben Roethlisberger and Landry Jones. He made his on-field debut with the team in 2018.

Dobbs was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019, but returned to the Steelers in 2020 after being claimed on waivers. He also has played for the Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans, Minnesota Vikings, Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers. This is his first season with the Patriots.

Robert Spillane, Patriots linebacker

After playing for the Tennessee Titans in 2018, Spillane signed with the Steelers in 2019. and stayed with the team through 2022. He also played for the Las Vegas Raiders before signing with the Patriots in 2025.

Cody White, Seahawks wide receiver

After failing to catch on in stints with the Kansas City Chiefs, New York Giants and Denver Bronco.s, White was on the Steelers roster from 2020-22. After his minimal role with the team, he signed with the Seahawks.
