Here are the top stories today in Pittsburgh:
1) Four college students will be presenting at the Oscars—and one of them hails from Pitt. Aditi Sridhar was awarded the chance to present at the Academy Awards, according to an official from the University of Pittsburgh. A student majoring in both film production and psychology, Sridhar also is the president of Pitt's SCENE, a student group for students who are hoping to work in entertainment and Hollywood. "So very excited to be a trophy presenter at the Oscars this year," Sridhar said in a post on Facebook. "Thank you. thank you to Academy Gold for the incredible opportunity."
2) The 2023 Blue White Ball, a charity ball benefiting childhood cancer research, raised more than $30K for pediatric cancer. The Ball, which is an annual event that raises funds year-round to support Penn State University's THON in the fight against childhood cancer, was held at Pittsburgh's Grand Hall at The Priory. "Blue White Ball executive director Kristen Conti of White Oak described the event, in its 14th year, as 'wonderful.'" Since its inception, the Blue White Ball has raised $170,000.

3) The Dunkin Donuts along Saw Mill Run Boulevard in Brentwood was the scene of an intense crash after two vehicles collided head on in front of the shop. Police were called to the scene just before 7 AM on Sunday morning. "The Brentwood Volunteer Fire Company said on its Facebook page that one person was trapped and had to be removed from their car." Additional reports state that three people were taken to the hospital following the crash.
4) After years of being vacant, the location of the former Sears in the Ross Park Mall will be getting a new tenant. A Dick's House of Sport store will be moving into the space. "There currently are three House of Sport stores in the Dick's chain, in Rochester, Knoxville and Minntonka, Minnesota." Unlike a Dick's Sporting Goods store that sells athletic clothing and equipment, this version is more interactive, with spaces for attractions such as golf simulators, batting cages, and a climbing wall. In addition, they also will offer services such as racquet stringing and baseball glove steaming. The company is is expected an open date next year.
5) A rollover car crash in Shaler Township nearly made a collision with a house near the road. Local police were called to the intersection of Geyer Road and Babcock Blvd. at around 11:50 p.m. Friday night. Upon arrival, the found a vehicle rolled onto its side, resting against the porch of a house. "There were no reported injuries and the house did not sustain any structural damage." At this time, law enforcement believes that the driver was impaired.
