Pittsburgh-Area Media Company Plans Expansion

PITTSBURGH, PA — With the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette planning to cease operations on May 3, another Pittsburgh media company plans to expand its operation in an attempt to fill the impending void Western Pennsylania's largest newspaper will leave.
Trib Total Media, which publishes the Tribune-Review of Greensburg the Valley News Dispatch of Tarentum and the TribLive website, announced Thursday that it will launch a weekend Pittsburgh print edition of the Tribune-Review beginning May 9. The publication will focus on local reporting focused specifically on Pittsburgh Allegheny County.
"To support this expanded mission, we are preparing to grow our newsroom in a thoughtful, financially sustainable way," Trib Total Media CEO Jennifer Bertetto said in a statement posted Thursday on TribLive.

The Tribune-Review published a daily Pittsburgh edition from 1992 until 2016, when escalating losses prompted its closure.
