Pittsburgh's Labor Day Parade 2017: Five Things You Need To Know
For starters, Pittsburgh's annual Labor Day Parade will have a different route this year.

PITTSBURGH, PA - In a tradition dating back more than a century, Pittsburgh will give the summer a spectacular send-off with the annual Labor Day Parade on Sept. 4 sponsored by the Allegheny County Labor Council. Here are five things you should know about the parade:
1. There’s a different route this year.. The parade will begin at Centre Avenue and Washington Place, proceed down Sixth Avenue to Grant Street and then make a right turn onto the Boulevard of the Allies. It will end at the United Steelworkers of America Building, where the reviewing stand will be located.
2. The parade begins at 10 a.m., rain or shine, and ends around 12:30 p.m.

3. Pittsburgh has one of the nation’s largest Labor Day parades. Parade chairman Steven Mazza expects this one to attract between 60,000 and 70,000 participants.
4. Gov. Tom Wolf is expected to be one of the many politicians participating in the event.

5. According to History.com, Pittsburgh held one of the nation’s first Labor Day parades back in 1882. The event hasn’t been staged every year since then, but has occurred annually since 1984.
