Popular Pittsburgh Bar Closes Permanently
The bar had hosted live music for two decades.
PITTSBURGH, PA - Howlers, a Bloomfield staple that hosted live music for two decades, will not reopen when the state stay-at-home order is lifted.
Owner Susan Coe previously announced that the bar would close in August as she scouted the East End for a new venue. But Coe posted on the bar's Facebook page over the weekend that the Liberty Avenue nightspot is no more.
"With the current challenges we are facing as a result of COVID-19 closures, the difficult decision has been made to close Howlers permanently. Plans for a final summer of fun here in Bloomfield just cannot happen.

"We had some grand plans for final shows in Bloomfield and it saddens me to have to cancel them. The health and safety of everyone is of the utmost importance. Any and all shows scheduled through 2020 are cancelled. "
Coe still plans to open a new bar somewhere in the East End.
