Voter turnout has been strong in Conshohocken early, according to poll workers at borough council chambers. While the poll is not located in one of borough’s contested wards, votes have kept workers busy early.
“We’ve had 18 voters [through 7:45 a.m.],” one worker said. “That’s not bad at all. We’ve been busy and it’s going to be even busier in other places in the borough.”
Mayor Robert Frost said that the Council race in Conshohocken is anyone’s game.
“It’s too close to call,” he said. “We’ve been up and down the streets talking to people and I wish I could say that one side is going to win and one side is going to lose, but right now it’s going to be a real close election, too close to call.”
Democratic candidates Paul McConnell, Raj Gupta and Matthew Ryan are running against Republicans Robert O’Neill, Kindra Helderle and Chris Savage.
Over 40 people turned up to vote at the Masonic Village on Ridge Pike, including Whitemarsh resident and Democratic Montgomery County Commissioner candidate Leslie Richards. Richards said she plans to spend the rest of the day visiting area polling locations and she predicts a Democratic victory in Whitemarsh.
“I think it’s going to be close but [Sara] Erlbaum, [Amy] Grossman and [Catherine] Peduzzi are going to pull it out,” she said.
Republican candidates Richard Cutler, Mike Zeock and David Brooks are running against the Democratic ticket.
