Conshy Jobs to Grow Faster than Plymouth, Whitemarsh, DVRPC Study Predicts

Study also predicts higher population growth.

Conshohocken is set to see employment grow more rapidly over the next several decades than its municipal neighbors, a study from the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission shows.

The commission's forecast predicts job and population growth in nine Philadelphia-area counties leading up to 2040. Employment is predicted to increase by about 11 percent, with 236,000 new jobs in the five southeastern Pennsylvania counties and 83,000 in the four adjacent New Jersey counties.

The study shows that in 2010, Conshohocken employed 8,684 people, which is expected to grow by 26.9 percent to 11,017 in 2040. That gain is a few hundred short of Plymouth's absolute growth of 2,734, to reach 25,768 jobs in 2040. That would constitute a 11.9 percent growth rate.

Whitemarsh is predicted to fall behind its neighbors in both categories, adding 1,500 jobs for a 7.9 percent growth rate.

In terms of population, Conshohocken is also predicted to grow the fastest, reaching 9,938 in 2040 for a 26.9 percent growth rate from 2010. Whitemarsh is next with a predicted 11.2 percent growth rate (19,286 total pop.) and Plymouth third at 7.9 percent (17,829).
