Conshy Planning Commission to Consider Wawa Proposal Tuesday

The Conshohocken Planning Commission is scheduled to consider the Wawa proposal at 1201 Fayette Street during its monthly meeting Tuesday night, marking the first time the controversial proposal will officially be presented in a public meeting.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday night, and will be held at Washies Fire House at 36 West Elm Street.

The Times Herald spoke with borough Zoning Officer Christine Stetler, who reviewed the specifics of the proposal. Stetler said that the developer, Provco Pineville Fayette L.P., is proposing a text amendment to the borough's office/residential district that would allow a combination food and gas store.

Properties with more than 40,000-square-feet, which do not have a Victorian or 20th century structure, have a minimum lot width of 250 feet, are located on a state highway, and have less than 90 percent impervious coverage would be allowed under the amendment, the Herald reported.

The submitted designs show a 4,149-square-foot store, 49 parking spaces, ten gasoline pumps under canopy, a 50-square-foot monument sign, and a 70-square-foot wall sign, the paper reported.
