Man Rescued from Vehicle Following Plymouth Meeting Crash

Taken by ambulance to hospital late Thursday night.

A man had to be extricated from his vehicle after it crashed into a pole in Plymouth Meeting late Thursday night, sources say.

Emergency personnel originally responded to the intersection of Germantown Pike and Chemical Road at approximately 10:08 p.m., after the vehicle crashed into a nearby pole. Rescuers then worked for approximately half an hour to free the man from his vehicle, said a dispatcher in the Montgomery County communications room.

A medical helicopter was placed on standby, but the individual was ultimately transported by ambulance to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania at about 10:40 p.m., the dispatcher said.

The circumstances of the crash, as well as the identity and status of the individual, were not immediately available. However, it is believed that the man was the only person involved in the accident.

The wreck originally blocked traffic at the intersection but was cleared by shortly after midnight.
