Plymouth Council to Address Neighborhood Flooding
The area near Launfall Road in Plymouth Meeting is seeing yearly flooding.

The Plymouth town council told residents it would look into the flooding issue near the Launfall Road neighborhood at its work session meeting on Tuesday.
Residents who live near the Launfall Road area appeared before the council to complain about flooding in the area. According to Tara Eison, a resident of 506 Launfall Road, roads, lawns and basements in the area often experience flooding during flash flood rain conditions.
“We’re talking about a foot of water in the street at Launfall,” she said. “All the water is building up. In the last three years we’ve been flooding almost every year from every bad rain. I mean, maybe about four inches on our floors every time it rains bad.”
According to township engineer Russ Benner, the flooding issue is due to three separate drainage areas, including runoff from the , dumping into one location near the neighborhood.

“There is a lot of draining being funneled through this one area,” he said. “It is a flash flood issue. Heavy rain isn’t as big a problem but when the rain comes all it once it overloads the system and causes the flooding.”
Benner said that two potential options to combat flooding could be to make curb cuts in Launfall Road area or to create a stream channel to offset the drainage, but that both options would be expensive.

“There are a lot of small things that can be done, but this is a lot of water coming through this one spot,” he said.”
The council said that it would take a look at area and see how the issue could be resolved.
“We need to look at this and see what we can do as soon as possible,” councilmember Dean Eisenberger said.
The Plymouth council’s next meeting is scheduled for September 12.
