Plymouth Council to Vote on Cold Point Village II

Plymouth Council will vote on whether or not to approve conditional use for 12 new town homes, in a development titled "Cold Point Village II," next Monday, Jan. 14.

The homes would be placed immediately adjacent to Cold Point Village at the intersection of Plymouth Road and Butler Pike, in a pocket of space on the northwest corner of the property. Builder Sal Paone told council at Monday night's workshop session that the homes would be similar in size and scope of the original Cold Point Village, with three bedrooms, two baths, and two-car garages. Additional cluster parking would be available for visitors, Paone said.

Paone also gave an update on commercial property construction in the Cold Point developments, saying that construction of two buildings, one on Butler Pike and another on Plymouth Road, should begin in the next 4-6 weeks. Paone said that three commercial leases had already been signed, and that his company was in talks to bring in a bank to the property.

Township solicitor Thomas Speers asked only general questions to confirm compliance with zoning requirements, and council had no questions.

At the meeting, council also had a reorganization vote, resulting in chair Sheldon Simpson and vice chair Lenore Bruno retaining their positions for 2013. The vote for chair split along party lines, with Republicans Simpson, Bruno, and Dean Eisenberger voting in favor, and Democrats Vince Gillen and Maria Weidinger voting against.

Bruno retained her position as vice chair by a unanimous vote.
