Update: Regional Rail, Roads Closed in Plymouth-Whitemarsh

Areas are still feeling the impact of Irene.

Update (1:55 p.m.): SEPTA announced that the Norristown regional rail line will be operating again as of 2 p.m. Monday.

Even with Irene gone and the water levels in the Plymouth-Whitemarsh area staring to go down, the region is still feeling the effects of the past weekend’s hurricane.

The following areas are still being affected:

  • SPETA announced on Monday that the Norristown regional rail line is still under suspension after Sunday’s heavy flooding in the Conshohocken and Norristown areas. The Cynwyd, Paoli/Thorndale and Trenton lines are also suspended.
  • Whitemarsh Township announced that Manor Road from Hagys Mill to Dawnwood Road is closed on Monday due to flooding and issues from the weather.
  • According to Whitemarsh Township, roughly 300 township residents are still without power. Those affected should contact PECO directly at 1-800-841-4141 to report gas and electric outages.
  • Some road barriers are still in place near Washington Street in Conshohocken after Sunday’s flooding.  Water levels on the Schukylill are still high, but the water has receded in most of the borough’s flooded areas.
